WEEK 8

This is the first time to knowing myself through google chrome browser. And I found there are only few right data about myself. In fact, I am happy with that I thought the internet did not steal too much my personal information. Therefore, I watched it all with great interest.

The workshop highlighted how algorithms construct and categorize our online identities based on the data we share and our interactions. Exploring my advertising profiles revealed unexpected categorizations, showing how platforms infer interests from limited data points. It was striking how these profiles often simplify or misrepresent complex identities. While tools like ad settings provide insights, they don’t fully explain how data is used or its impact. Understanding and interrogating these processes is essential for addressing privacy, fairness, and accountability in algorithmic systems.
